Well, to be honest with you, I have never really cared for flash cars or expensive jewellery or really, really expensive handbags. Although I do have a handbag from Calvin Klein that I bought that cost me quite a bit of money, but I have used it for years.
I believe in buying things that last.
Even with my clothes, I might spend a little bit more money on them, but I don’t go designer because that’s just not my thing.
Property success to me means more about leaving a legacy, building something that can provide for me throughout my life and will always be there so when I come to retire, if I decide that I am going to retire. Then my property portfolio pays for that.
Maybe they pay for the luxuries like holidays. In fact, they already do pay for luxury.
Holidays. I’ve been to Australia, Cambodia, South Africa based on my property portfolio.
I would also love my properties to be assets that can be handed down to my children or to my nieces and nephews. I want them to be assets that can be used for generations to come. I won’t ever sell up everything. Although, as I’ve said before, I would sell if I can no longer add value or do anything extra to a property so that I can invest my money in a better place.
I have already had success from my property portfolio. On a good month, my property portfolio, will pay out roughly £3,000 pcm. On a bad month, so for example, if it’s a serviced accommodation and we’re in the middle of winter and I don’t have that many guests, then my property portfolio, will pay out around £2,000 pounds per calendar month.
The goal is to get this up to £5,000 per month in the next 5-10 years and then double it each decade.
I’m still growing that and have investments elsewhere which I share with business partners… I don’t count that, these are investments for the future, they are still being built!
I also don’t believe in buy buy buy buy. I much prefer having a smaller handful of properties that I can manage easily. Then keep buying and buying and buying properties that aren’t necessary and not really giving me the net returns that I need.
On a more personal level, property success for the young graduate who started out in the big wide world of property at 21 was to actually get my voice heard. I’ve always been incredibly good at looking at the future and planning a strategy. So to build my brand NC Real Estate that falls under the Natasha Collins Persona has been an absolute dream of mine. Some days I have to pinch myself that it’s grown to the level that it has (and continues to grow!).
That for me is successful because it is personal goals being manifested. I feel that I’ve put myself out on the playing field where my voice is equal to every single other property professional or even more levelled and honest, which I firmly believe is the right way to do business.
Being in the position, right now, where I can take opportunities as they come and say no to the things that don’t feel right is a luxury which makes me feel successful.
I’m looking forward to what’s to come!
