This week has gone so quickly, I’ve felt like it’s been non-stop… I even forgot to write my Thursday blog, because I looked up and it was Friday and something else was already going out.
That never happens, usually I’m on the ball with things like that… Chris has been travelling for work, so I’m left to my own devices, which usually means that I just pack my diary full (Chris is good at making me slow down and rest).
Or I go and see my friends in the evening, with a glass of wine, and then chat for hours without even thinking about the time.
That being said, it’s been productive over here, I’ve learnt a lot and got so much in the pipeline that I’m excited by.
So, to cap off the week, I thought I’d bring to you my top 8 takeaways:
- I won a Teaching Excellence award for innovation woop! This is exciting because I had no idea… Awards and recognition are so much sweeter when you don’t enter yourself or even realise it’s happening.
- The property investment market moves so much quicker in the US. I was in a meeting discussing a property on Thursday with my JV partner… the deal should complete next Friday. It’s a flip in New Jersey and has a 6-12 month pipeline. When everything’s done I’ll talk more about it, for now all the paperwork is being done.
- Key Safes are a life saver. I’ve put one on each of my properties and this week, when a guest walked away with a set of keys, I still had a spare in a sneaky secret one. Make sure you have your keys hidden somewhere that’s still accessible for your team! It’s saves a hella’ lotta’ time.
- I interviewed one of my favourite authors, Alex Pang, this week. He wrote Rest (Remember this blog review). We had the best conversation on the podcast about how rest can improve our productivity. That all happened because of one tweet… I’m blown away, but so excited for that to come out on Tuesday.
- If you are getting married order your wedding dress 9 months in advance… I choose to do mine in 3 months (because I didn’t know how long it would take) and now I’m a month out from the wedding, it still needs a lot of rushed alterations.
- Mortgages seem to be a pain to get right now, the level of hoops to jump through has increased AND if you don’t jump through them all you get declined or a ridiculously high interest rate. Make sure you have proof of income available, a building surveyors report (or homebuyers) and some comparables for rent and value if you are remortgaging because you never know what they are going to come up with.
- Scaffolders are the most potty-mouthed people on a building site regardless of what country you’re in. When I asked the scaffolder directly why, they said it’s just their language?!
- Having an accountability partner really is game changing. I have one for the mentorship I’m currently in for my business. 90 minutes with Lori and we both walked away inspired. If you don’t have one yet, I really suggest you go find one!
